SP 1 was the first of a batch of fifteen Polish-built buses delivered to London United’s Shepherd’s Bush garage in 2006 for use on central London route 148.

Between 2006 and 2010, a total of 206 similar vehicles were delivered to London United and London Sovereign (then part of the Transdev Group).  London United, and later, London Sovereign were transferred to RATP Dev Transit London as a result of Transdev's merger with Veolia Transport in March 2011.

Many of these were still in revenue-earning service when London United kindly donated SP1 to the London Bus Museum in 2022.

In December 2009 all fifteen of this early batch of the fleet, were transferred to Hounslow Heath garage. For the following twelve years, SP 1 operated on a number of routes in the Hounslow area, until withdrawal.  The last Scania OmniCity's were withdrawn from London service in 2024.
